Canadian workplace culture and job search process in Canada can be very different from other countries. Understanding the job market and learning new strategies for finding employment in Canada will better prepare newcomers to find jobs.

EAP Peel Region

We offer newcomers an orientation to the Canadian job market, job search preparation, and information sessions and strategies on finding employment.

Services include:

Workshops on job search, labour market information and Canadian workplace culture

Resume, cover letter and interview preparation

Career related information sessions and opportunities for networking with employers

Individual career coaching, assistance to develop personalized employment plan

Referrals and information to practice your profession or trade

Enhanced Language Training (ELT) for Healthcare Professionals  

The ELT program supports newcomers with backgrounds in the healthcare sector with sector-specific language training, Canadian workplace culture and volunteer work placements to support their transition to the labour market. Eligibility criteria apply.

Language Training for Newcomers

The Language Training (Childminding/Food Handling) provides newcomers with the skills and knowledge to enter the labour market in the areas of Food Handling and Supply Childminding. This program, delivered in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of East Scarborough, supports participants with language instruction, skills development and work experience placements to become employment ready in Food Handling or Childminding sectors. Small Business Support

Small Business Support for newcomers with basic English. We support eligible newcomers with activities and resources to overcome barriers in accessing available services for starting their own business.

Services include:  

* Workshops on entrepreneurship basics

* Networking activities

* Information sessions on self-employment

* Referrals to applicable community services
